How to Cook Adobong Manok

Adobong Manok is one of the delectable dishes of Filipinos that is one of the favorites of many foreigners. It’s simple to cook it and you don’t need a lot of condiments.

Good for 2 servings

Ingredients of Adobong Manok

½ kilo chicken meat (cut into 1-inch pieces)
3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoon white vinegar or 10 pieces calamondin/golden lime
½ teaspoon black pepper
2 pcs black pepper leaves
1/12 cups of water


Steps in Cooking Adobong Manok

1.    Wash the chicken meat thoroughly.
2.    Cut it into 1 inch slices.
3.    Put it into an appropriate cooking pot.
4.    Mix all the ingredients.
5.    Cover and heat to a boil.
6.    When the mixture starts boiling, uncover it partially to allow some of the vinegar to evaporate.
7.    Reduce the heat and allow simmering until meat is tender. Taste to find out if the saltiness is just enough. If not add more soy sauce. The water left must be just enough to retain the flavor.
8.    Serve with rice.



Tips in Cooking Adobo

•    It’s tastier when the dish is left to simmer for a longer time after becoming tender because the flavor will be absorbed completely by the meat.

•    It can be eaten without rice, but if you want to enjoy the succulent taste more, eating it with rice will enrich your gourmet adventure.

•    What’s left of the broth could be mixed with the rice while eating. The combination is delectable.
