GROUND PORK WITH SPONGE GOURD

(SERVES 5-6)

INGREDIENTS:



* ½ kilo ground pork
* 3 pieces young sponge gourd, skinned/pared, sliced in circular shape
* 1 whole onion, pared, finely sliced
* 3 cloves garlic, finely minced
* 3 tablespoons vegetable cooking oil
* 2 tablespoons soy sauce
* salt to taste


PROCEDURE:



* Preheat the frying pan, add the cooking oil and saute the garlic and onion.
* Add the ground pork and stir for at least 2 minutes, then add thae sponge gourd.
* Put the soy sauce and stir well and cover it and wait for another 1 minute in low heat.
* Season it with salt, continue stirring and wait until the sponge gourd is already cooked.
* Serve while hot with rice.

MORE TIPS:



* You can also use oyster sauce aside from soy sauce for better taste of the menu.
* You can also use butter on sauting the ground pork.
* Aside from sponge gourd you can also use bottle gourd as subtitute.
