Sweet and Spicy Squid, Filipino Dish

(10 Servings)


* ½ kilo Dried Squid, cut into stripped

* 1 ½ cups Brown Sugar

* 1 cup Tomato catsup

* 3 tablespoons Chili Powder

* 1 teaspoon Olive Oil


* Pour the tomato catsup, olive oil, brown sugar and chili powder on a sauce pan. Mix and dissolve well with the use of a fork.

* Preheat the sauce pan with the mixture over a medium heat.

* Let the mixture boil, stirring continuously until the sauce has thickened.

* Turn the heat into low medium heat and continue stirring.

* Add the stripped squid and continue stirring until the squid absorbed all the sauce.

* Serve hot or cold.


* You can also cut the dried squid into a small cubes or small square shape.

* If you want this recipe to be sweeter, you can add more amount of brown sugar.

* Sweet and spicy squid is best to serve with Red wine or beer.

* Sweet and spicy squid can be serves as a viand or snack or even at during happy hours (pulutan).
